Another green company backed by an Obama bundler just bit the dust.

After announcing earlier this year that the company would lay off 200 of its 300 employees, solar manufacturer Amonix Inc. closed its operation in North Las Vegas leaving taxpayers in the red by $20 million.

Editor's note: We've updated this piece with research from the RNC below, entitled:  "The Big Payback: Where It All Began," which details the massive payoffs directed to Obama supporters using taxpayer dollars in the guise of "stimulus."

“Just seven months after California-based solar power company Amonix Inc. opened its largest manufacturing plant, in North Las Vegas,” reports the Las Vegas Sun, a liberal paper, last January, “the company’s contractor has laid off nearly two-thirds of its workforce. Flextronics Industrial, the Singapore solar panel manufacturer that partnered with Amonix to staff the new $18 million, 214,000-square-foot plant, laid off about 200 of its 300-plus employees Tuesday.”

Now only 14 months after opening the facility, and seven months after massive layoffs, it has closed due to manufacturing over-capacity in the solar industry, along with quality control issues.

"I don't think they had a lot of training," said Rene Kenerly, a former material and supply manager at Amonix, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. "There were a lot of quality issues. A lot of stuff was coming back because it had some functionality issues."

Sounds like a picture perfect Obama program: Very expensive with "functionality issues."

The man behind the company, Steve Westly, has received over $500 million in taxpayer-funded grants, loans and cash for a variety of companies- mostly in the in the green space after raising $86,000 for Obama as a bundler in 2008, according to the campaign cash website opensecrets.org.

Tampa Strip Club Hires Sarah Palin Lookalike for GOP Convention

Jul 24, 2012 12:26 PM by Ilya Gerner | Comments: 2
As Republican delegates prepare to descend on Tampa for their National Convention, local businesses are making all the necessary preparations, from "widening bathroom stalls" to setting up online chat rooms where strippers can engage with prospective clients. "With strip club owners claiming Republicans make the best customers", Florida will finally experience the one kind of stimulus (and stimulated) packages Republicans can get behind.

Jim you are off topic and off color. Making stupid derogatory remarks about people you don't even know. That's typical of people who have no logic or facts to argue the real point of the article which is the corruption of the Obama administration. That corruption and fraud overshadows by several orders of magnitude any indiscretions such as you describe even if they were true.

What's incredibly sad is the fact that Obama isn't the slightest "red" from his "green" energy policies. Perhaps if the FNM {false news media} would report on it, he would turn a little red. Even more galling after all the failures, Obama keeps pushing forward with green energy with no takers. Just another example of his twisted knowledge of what makes the world turn. How could anyone deny this?
oldnjal Wrote: Jul 23, 2012 11:26 PM
This is just another example of how we are inundated by lies, on the part of our community organizer.
He sees companies fail, with job loss, and it is okay, apparently.
Bain was about 80 percent successful in rescuing companies, but the word is out there that Bain cost jobs. Just lies.
But what is truly unbelievable is that Bain is demonized, but used private money.
He retains the votes of millions after wasting billions that was taken from the tax payer. How can he lie, with such a sunny smile?
Really criminal behavior, with the aim of spending us into becoming like Greece.

How do we get this ridiculous campaign-financing under control? Thanks McCaIn for not handling that one when you had the chance! No one person or company should be able to contribute more than $2500 to any candidate.
Kim D Wrote: Jul 23, 2012 9:46 PM
Political spending in this election is irrelevant. Everybody that is going to vote has probably already picked the candidate that they are going to vote for. Those that claim that they vote but have not yet picked sides is lying. There is no way for anyone who has a reasonable interest in the direction this nation is headed to remain ignorant of the issues in this election. It would take a major scandal to change anyone's mind.

I wonder if Obama would invest his own money. He obviously has no clue on what will show a return. Either that or it was payback for campaign contributions. Since his 3 1/2 in office has been less that stellar I tend to believe that he's losing money on purpose.
MoreFreedom Wrote: Jul 23, 2012 5:58 PM
He's not losing money, he's raking in the campaign cash from rent-seekers. And rent-seekers love Obama, because he's known to give favors for campaign cash, at our expense. Look at the list Ransom has provided to prove it.

It's not money corrupting politics, it's politicians corrupting commerce to get their hands on some of the money. And if taxpayers lose big time, they don't care. If their bundlers can't use government to steal, they do care.

From Obama's viewpoint, if he can squander 1 billion of other people's money, where he gets a mere 25,000 or so in campaign cash, what does he care? He only cares if he can get more from someone else for the government favors his administration and the Democrats provide.

I wonder why a green company would need a 214,000 sq ft plant when they only had 300 workers. From the article, it mentioned they had "functionality" problems which means no quality control. This is what we get putting incompentents in business. The guy that was in charge was also a criminal kicking back the tax payer dollars to Obama's campaign. Is that called Racketeering? The man should be in jail for this.
wpeeters Wrote: Jul 23, 2012 4:32 PM
Mike, it's only called Racketeering if it's done by the other side, not themselves, they call it "investing".

OBAMACARE IS A NEGATIVE FOR THOSE OVER 60,  UNDER 30, and the WORKING MIDDLE-AGED.
.
If you're on Medicare or approaching 65, remember Obama has removed $ 500 Billion Dollars from Medicare to put into  ObamaCare.
.
If you're under 30 and in reasonably good health,  you only need low cost catastrophic health insurance but you'll be forced to pay into ObamaCare  more than any private insurance company would charge, to subsidize those not in good health.
.
If you're middle aged with your employer's health insurance , 85% of you are satisfied with your coverage, but you'll soon be forced into ObamaCare to pay a higher cost with inferior coverage for the dissatisfied 15%. To reverse all this you must elect Romney and 51 Republican Senators

The object of the Cloward-Piven Strategy is to "overwhelm the system" so that it collapses under it's own weight. The general belief is that when people get desperate due to closed banks, grocery stores, utility companies, etc., they'll accept the Marxism of the Strategists, because it will then seem more reasonable than the pain and chaos the strategy caused.
oldnjal Wrote: Jul 23, 2012 11:37 PM
It is pleasing to see the Cloward Piven Strategy coming into general discussion, and I believe it is familiar to our spendaholic community organizer.
Bill Ayres, in whose living room our community organizer got his political start, and who claims to have ghost written the man's book, also thought it would be wise to get America into as many brushfire wars as possible, since the goal was to bankrupt America. This is his advice in his old book, You don't have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing'.
The more these people are mentioned, the better.

Romney will put up to 500,000 people to work with high paying oil and gas work jobs once he takes office. These are not the kind of jobs funded by tax payers who go away in a year or so when the government jobs dry up. We will also be working toward energy independence so we can stop buying from Chavez and the Shieks.

Obama is killing this country. He is dismantling our military. He is encouraging one parent homes. His punishing one man one woman marriages with taxes. He is disparaging our schools in public while he continues to promote union lethargy in the classroom. He has cancelled our space program to denigrate the pride we have in being first in exploration and exceptionalism. He has attacked our conservative religious thought and beliefs by forcing things that he knows are forbidden by certain religions. He has circumvented the equalizer of an informed congress by presidential waivers and orders, killing the American spirit of indivualism, entreneurialism, faith that most anything can be done without the government.

Maybe the biggest problem with D.C. (and surrounding area) is that they aren't "feeling our pain" - the three richest counties in America are right there (and 7 of the top 10), unemployment is @ 6% (maybe lower), and the housing market is high and flourishing. That's how Obiteme can think that "we're doing just fine" - he's in the pink and out of touch.

Pull the plug on that somehow, and they would "get" how the rest of the country is faring.

Obama and his handlers are so arrogant, they know they can tell you lies to your face, use taxpayer money to fund businesses who in turn give political contributions to Democrats and buy more votes, destroy businesses that don't contribute to Democrats or that aren't part of their "green" agenda and still know they won't have to worry about retribution from the voters because they know voters are stupid, or dependent on government.
Time to wake them up, vote them out, charge them with corruption and make them spend all their ill gotten gains in court on lawyer fees.
