There is a part of me that wants the Monty Mueller’s Flying Circus to be over.

If you live in a tent you might have missed Bob Mueller’s live testimony last week before the House Committee on Trump’s Impeachment that clarified the obfuscations that Mueller created the last time he obfuscated the previous clarifications that he appended to the original explanation of the obfuscated portion of the original Mueller report.

That report was supposed to clarify whether Donald Trump “colluded” with the Russians in the election of 2016, and subsequently committed obstruction of justice to cover it up.

Republicans believe the report cleared the president of any wrong-doing.

Democrats really aren’t so sure, but won’t impeach the president.

How-- the Democrats seemed to be saying to Mueller on issuance of the report-- could you have investigated the president while we appeared on CNN and MSNBC over two years, promising a quick hanging, only to be left with nothing?

It didn’t help that the rest of country was belly-laughing over the final report.

So, in response, Mueller held a press conference at the end of May to address those concerns. And promised it would be the very last word he would have on the matter.

Republicans believe the press conference again cleared the president of any wrong-doing.

Democrats really weren’t so sure, but still wouldn’t impeach the president. By a vote of 332-95 the House voted to table an impeachment resolution on July 17th-- one week before the Mueller’s testimony.

“[The May press conference] really muddied the waters in a way that was perhaps not necessary,” said former federal prosecutor Joe Morena on HillTV.

“You’re not supposed to editorialize about someone if you’re not bringing charges but then kind of dirty them up and then say, ‘well perhaps we could have [charged him]” to make clear that the prosecutor doesn’t want to exonerate him either.

Congress entered that door that Mueller opened in the press conference, issuing a subpoena to Mueller asking him to clarify the obfuscations that he created the last time he obfuscated the previous clarifications that he appended to the original explanation of the obfuscated portion of the original Mueller report.

So, we were left with that clarifying moment on Wednesday when Mueller’s very, very, very last words were spoken on the subject in front of Congress.

Of course, I doubt it’s really Mueller’s last word on the subject because if you thought the waters were muddied after the press conference, the ratio of mud to water has now been reversed as a result of Mueller’s appearance before Congress.

Yes; there is very little water left in Mueller’s intent now.

Now, there is only mud.

Mueller’s performance sucked all the water out of the room when it appeared that he knew very little of what went into the report, the investigation, the canon of ethics for prosecutors, or what he had for lunch.

But perhaps I’m being too generous.

I was studying Russian Language and Literature when Brezhnev was still alive, when socialism was evil, and the Russians did a lot more than buy a few Facebook ads to influence elections.

Yet, never before had we turned that Russian mole hill into a mud pie that we used to sling at a president. But then never before had we committed the crime of not electing Hillary Clinton president of the United States.

With all due respect to guys like Michael Steele, former chairman of the GOP who now makes money throwing mud at Trump and Christians who support Trump, the whole investigation is dirty, dirty, dirty and the more guys like Steele handle the mud, the dirtier it becomes.

Given the entire resources of the federal government to prosecute one of the most vilified people in the history of our country, and a team of prosecutors wholly committed to a Trump prosecution, all they got was mud.

We have real problems in this country left over from Obama that need attention: the economy; illegal aliens; tensions with China on trade, Hong Kong, the East Sea;  and aggression from Iran, just to name a few.

So as much as I want Monty Mueller’s Flying Circus to be over, I’m content to let the Democrats continue to play with that mud, while Trump cleans up the other mud pies that the Democrats leftover from Obama.
