Did you ever wonder how Jesus would do business? A while back, Kevin Cullis wrote a book called “How Would Jesus Do Business” and I’ve read through it at least once, completely, and referenced it more times than I can count. It’s a great book, and the perfect platform from which to build a dynamic business based on Bible teaching and instructions.
However, recently, I’ve come to the conclusion that we, entrepreneurs, may need a blueprint that covers the foundation with a more effective call to action. I still recommend reading Kevin’s book as a fundamental guide, but here’s the toe of the boot to get you started!
Ask yourself, as the business owner, one question:
What can I do today that would change one person’s life? Then create a training that will make that kind of difference for one (or more) who follow your training.
As you sprint toward the goal line of owning your own business, you may realize that the bigger impact you have on more people, the more significant your overall success. But what if you can only impact ONE person with your efforts?
As I listened to the message, the presenter went on to bigger, more effective messaging, but I was STUCK on the one question. What if I can only impact ONE person? Would I continue building the plan that I believe God has instructed me to build? Would I push through to influence that ONE person?
Proverbs 3: 5 – 10 says:
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Caught up in that first phrase, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;” I realized that I had much to understand about the meaning of ALL.
That word stuck out, throughout the entirety of the verses shared. The Bible says trust with ALL thine heart, not part of it, not 50% of it, not 98% of it, or half of it, but ALL thine heart. I’m to trust the Lord with ALL my heart. And then it says not to lean on my own understanding. I’m to acknowledge Him in ALL my ways. There’s that word again. ALL, not half, not some, not part, but ALL my ways are to acknowledge Him.
Further into that reading the Bible says that I’m to honor the Lord with my substance, AND with the first fruits of ALL increase. So, God gets MY substance and ALL increase? That’s what the Bible says.
And then, after I’ve spent my bonus, blessing, and benefit, the Bible says my barns will be filled with plenty, and my presses shall burst out with NEW WINE. After I’ve given it ALL to God, then – and only then – will my barns be filled and my wine presses burst to overflowing.
As a business owner, this sent shock waves through me. Suddenly the realization that ALL must be given to God FIRST. And then the blessings will be rained down upon me, and I will be filled to overflowing.
The Proverbs of the Bible are directives and consequences. First, almost every proverb gives a directive of what WE should do and for whom (generally God), and then we’re foretold the blessing we’ll receive if we follow directions. Am I following directions in my business?
The Blueprint for Entrepreneurial Success is pretty clear here.
- I trust in the Lord with ALL my heart.
- Lean not unto my own understanding.
- In ALL ways acknowledge Him.
- He shall direct my paths.
- Fear the Lord.
- Depart from evil.
- Honor the Lord with my substance and firstfruits of ALL my increase.
- Barns will be filled with plenty and my wine will be overflowing.
What can I do today, to get better results from my business?
- Trust in the Lord with ALL my heart.
- Acknowledge Him in ALL ways.
- Honor the Lord with substance and firstfruits of ALL my increase.
And the clear results of that will be granted back to me by way of barns filled with plenty and overflowing and abundant stores of wine. We know all things given by the Father, to the Son, come in overflowing measures. An abundance of all things come to the son. Are we not ALL sons of God, the father? Do we not all have coming to us as heirs of the crown of Jesus, the abundant blessing of the Father onto the Son?
There’ve been many times in my own life when I wondered if God was paying attention. Was he really watching me? Did he notice how dedicated I was to serving Him?
Then, one afternoon, as I prepared a lesson for another client I realized that I’d proven the lesson in my own life. My experience had shown me how to go without a lot of breakdown, or research, I already knew how to apply the experience to the life of my client. I knew how to teach the client and any others how to get the most from their effort – because I’d already been there.
And even if I could only teach one person, that one person could teach others, and the lessons would continue. I created a dynamic learning plan that I believed would extrapolate quality associations with the business owner, and could be continued through several teaching layers to other people.
Meaning that if I could only teach one, MANY would still gain from the lesson, because teaching one allowed many to learn.
God is leading YOU.
Are you preparing for training for others?
Are you designing your training programs so that many can benefit, EVEN if you only have one person on the training calls?
Here’s the clear take away on this program concept. God isn’t teaching EVERYone these lessons. The next guy may read this same message and get something different out of it, than what I go. He’s training me. And I’ve been sharing the message with others, who follow and read what I have to say.
If God knows He’s going to gain more from just teaching ONE, should I not also realize that teaching just ONE is worth my time and effort?
If you’re the ONE person out there reading this message, take a moment to share it, or send it on to one more person. Let’s share the word of God and His Glory, ONE at a time!
