Google reports earnings after the close tonight... and there is a fair amount of evidence that suggests that the company will have a big beat.

The first bit of evidence comes from 3rd party reports who suggest that traffic, volume and clicks were all at record levels.  That is something we almost expect from Google at this point, but is there a reason why we should expect even more?

If I can take you back to Thanksgiving, not that I want to remind you of all the food that was consumed, but the immediate numbers off of that day, black Friday , Cyber Monday and the combination of all of those were through the roof.  The big surprise there was Thanksgiving Day itself.

Retail sales seem to have been muted in 4Q12, but were online sales muted?  We don't know yet, but there is a good chance that people did a lot more "product" based searching this year as prices become more and more of a concern.

I think Google delivers a big beat on the top and bottom lines .... Chime in and tell me what you think in the comments below!
