As Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto of the Imperial Japanese Navy emerged from the IRS hearings in Congress on Friday, he was overheard to say, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."
OK, so I am mixing metaphors. But, that famous statement from the architect of the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack is the most descriptive quote I can think of for what happened in the Longworth Building in Washington, D.C. this past week. The Democratic Party, and especially the outgoing Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, must be wondering if their confident stride over the past four years didn’t just gallop them right past a forbidden threshold.
It would be a mistake for the Democrats or for those reporting on this story to consider the IRS exploitations in isolation. This is just one of a long train of abuses. The first example arrived just three months into the Obama presidency with the usurpation of America’s transportation network. In a complete disconnect from market demand, the Administration announced plansto fund the construction of high speed rails throughout the United States.
Soon after asserting their utopian commuter network, the Democratic controlled House and Senate granted the President his every wish to spend unprecedented amounts of borrowed money in the expansion of government. And with the hiring of hundreds of thousands of additional government employees, the money laundering scheme of funding the Democratic Party through union membership dues rapidly escalated.
In spite of an economic crash and America’s longstanding desire to reduce the importation of Middle-Eastern oil, the Obama Administration put a stop to the Keystone Pipeline project. Rather than creating tens of thousands of good paying jobs in America to bring Canadian oil to the states, those skill requirements will only be needed in Canada as the pipeline will instead bypass the United States on its way to the west coast. America will continue to import oil from the Middle-East while Canada’s oil will be loaded on tankers bound for China.
The Obama Administration evinced a design to dictate where Boeing could locate its operation for assembling their new 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The force of government was blatantly abused against a private company in order to benefit President Obama’s big labor friends and supporters.
