I saw a clever but disturbing image today of the photoshopped merging of Barack Obama and Richard Nixon from the clever folks at Big Fur Hat.  That picture immediately told a thousand words of what will remain a primary news topic throughout this presidential campaign season.  And like his predecessor of 1972, it will not be Obama’s friends’ bad behavior; but, rather his response that will reveal the President’s measure of integrity.

What Fast and Furious was about
The ATF (The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) prevailed upon legitimate gun store owners in southern Arizona to cooperate with a U.S. Government plan to track illegal gun distribution across the Mexican border.  After installing hidden cameras and microphones in the gun stores, the merchants were instructed to sell weapons to anyone.  They just needed to report to the ATF whenever the purchase was made by someone whose background check would normally have prevented the sale.  Allowing the guns to “walk” would ostensibly reveal a network of weapons distribution, particularly to the Mexican drug cartel.

You will notice that the UN is getting ready to push for its Small Arms Treaty to be signed & ratified by member states.

Assuming that "Operation Fast & furious" was intended not to be publicly discussed, had the whistle not been blown we would have been reading between about a yr ago & now that 1000's of "assault weapons" were being taken off Mexican gangsters & traced to US gun shops. The fact that the government was involved would go unmentioned. There would be a narrative that "lax US gun laws" were responsible, therefore the Small Arms treaty & new "assault weapons bans" are needed. Nothing in particular would be done about the 'cartels' we & Mexico aren't doing anyway.

F&F shows just how far they will go to achieve this end, i.e. allow the sale of firearms to known enemies of the state with no intent or method of tracking them. Bush's Wide Receiver sting op had transmitters implanted in the guns and w/help of the Mexican govt. (the Mexican govt. wasn't informed about F&F) led to 1,400 arrests; the op was cancelled once the cartels figured out how to disable the transmitters. Obama et al. never intended to track F&F guns; this is not a botched sting op, it is, however, clearly an act of treason and, as prescribed by the Constitution, they should all be hanged.

The licensed gun dealers could not have ordered that many semi-automatic rifles without an audit by ATF agents not part of the F&F conspiracy.

The Mexican police let some cartel members out for a day, lent them cars and guns and then put them back in their cells AFTER they shot about 24 people at a wedding party in Juarez 3 years ago. Most of the guns not from Mexico are from either the wars in Central America or shipped in by the PALLET from China and N. Korea.

Don't confuse the issue . . . everyone knows that the Mexican army, trained by Americans, were equipped with American weapons and that the State Department had a big contract with Mexico to ship high powered weapons, not just to their military, but to militarize the police departments there. When you stop to realize that an AK47 semi auto available here goes for approximately $800. Fully auto AK's are the most sought after type used down in Mexico. They are readily available for @ $150 each from the upstanding armed forces of Mexico. If you believe that cartels buy more weapons from the USA than from the Mexican mafia or from the Army of Mexico then I can probably sell you some dry land in New Orleans where I would tell you the water table was 60 feet down. Trust me, Americans are not that stupid, and obumble and holder are in for a rude awakening.

They could say "see guns bought in America are winding up in Mexican drug cartel hands so they must be outlawed. Thank God they got stopped!
The sales weren't made to necessarily enrich the weapons stash of drug cartels as much as it was a scam to take away Americans guns. ie, outlaw the sales of weapons, trust me, the government WANTS OUR WEAPONS and they will stop at nothing short to get them.

If that's true, then the requested documents should verify that claim, and Holder, Pelosi, Reid can campaign to frog march Bush from Texas to Leavenworth. A reasonable man would expect that if the documents were exculpatory, then Obama and Holder would have already given them to Julian Assange and the NY Times for publication.

On the other hand, if the documents tend to incriminate the most transparent administration in history, the cover up and assertion of executive privilege make complete sense. (That is, if you are not a brain dead liberal)
