What’s the worst policy idea that would cause the most damage to society?

I’m tempted to say the value-added tax since our hopes of restraining the federal government will be greatly undermined if we give the buffoons in Washington a new source of revenue. Indeed, this is one of the reasons why Mitt Romney may be an ever greater long-term threat to American exceptionalism than Barack Obama.

But even though the VAT is fiscal poison, it’s not the most dangerous policy proposal.

At the top of my list is global taxation.

I wrote in 2010 about some of the awful global tax schemes being pushed by the United Nations. And I also noted that unrepentant statists such as George Soros are pimping for global taxation.

I even wrote a paper back in 2001 to explain why global taxes are such a bad idea.

The details of the tax don’t matter. It’s the principle.

A supra-national taxing authority inevitably would mean bigger government and more statism. As such, it doesn’t matter whether the new global tax is imposed on financial transactions, carbon emissions, tobacco, the Internet, munitions, foreign exchange, pollution permits, energy, or airline tickets.

And the statists are not giving up. Here are passages from a news report on their latest scheme.

Pelosi would support ANY tax increase. And soros only wants to destroy our economy.
It seems that neither of them want what's best for America.
They both make money with 'insider-trading'. At our expense.

The UN aspires to be government of the world. The socialist, totalitarian government of the world.

A vital step toward that goal is gaining the power to assess & collect taxes, on any pretext.

Another is getting to redistriburte wealth & prosperity, which is what the anthropogenic 'climate change' dogma is all about.

Most of the countries that can't get their shiite together are in Africa, I believe....if I'm wrong, please correct me. The U.S. has sent billions over there in assistance over the years, and nothing changes. Still a whirlwind of catastrophe or crisis. As U.S. is the most generous giver to Africa, the U.N. sees us as a Chump and will hit on America to pay more "tax" than any other country. Kick the freeloading bums out of the most expensive real estate in the world...right there in Manhattan. Let the Donald build condos there.

I agree that the U N shouldn't exist.

Why would any American want to pay one penny to the UN, let alone a global tax? Why should we be taxed and that money given to countries that do nothing for themselves. Countries that used to be prosperous and have had themselves ruined by their leadership. That is not our problem. We have that same problem here in this country. I say let Soros send his money there, as for the rest of us, we should take to the streets against 1 dime of anyone's money going to a UN taxation.

Democrats seem to believe that the U.N. is some sort of wise impartial organization free and dedicated to making fair-minded decisions on the proper direction for world events. But its representatives can do only what the governments that appointed them want them to do. It is just an artificial microcosm of the world at large complete with all of the self interested and aggressive ambitions from which the issues it addresses arise in the first place. The only real difference, and I expect the one that actually motivates its supporters, is that the more successful countries, most notably the United States, have less influence within the U.N than within the world at large.

It is all well and good as a forum within which tragic misunderstandings and miscommunications might be avoided but it will never arrive at, much less, successfully execute a solution contrary to what those countries with other goals and the power to pursue them crave.

Isn't it amazing that they'll gladly tax western capitalism but they won't embrace western capitalism? I wonder who they'll tax after they've destroyed capitalism? Eventually they're going to run out of other people's money. Course we know what their goal is -- 'haves' (them) and 'have-nots' (us). Yep, time to buy more guns and ammo.
traitorbill Wrote: Feb 05, 2012 10:17 AM
Like we have the money! And speaking of guns, the UN has already tried to restrict our second amendment rights. So lets fund the organization dedicated to the elimination of our constitutionally protected right to own guns. The U.S. government is already taking on our first amendment rights under obamacare.

Lots and lots of ammunition. I am favoring CCI 22 stingers. Try to buy a couple of boxes every payday. Figure I can feed myself if nothing else. Maybe trade security work for food. Stingers and also their 22 shorts. Great for rabbits-quiet. doesn't scare the rest of them. 22's will do most anything I'll need and they store easy, take up a lot less space than larger rounds. Need a 22 with a tubular magazine for the shorts though or a revolver. Autoloaders won't feed them. Take a safety course if you've never owned a gun before.

Our nation already sends more money than any other country in the world....to help and assist those perpetually lame and inept countries that can never stand on their own two feet. I believe most of them are in Africa....one crisis or catastrophe after another on that continent for a multitude of incompetent reasons. So now, of course, the idea will be to "tax" the U.S. more than any other nation also. What a load of horseshiite. Kick the U.N. out of NYC, reclaim the most valuable real estate in the world on the river there, let the Donald build condos on it, and NYC will gain millions in tax revenue. Let the U.N. rebuild where it shills for...Africa or Arab countries.

Disband the U.N. and send these parasites back to their own countries to live in the poverty and chaos that they have caused in most of the world.
Parasites that have drain their countries and now want to tax us to line their pockets, not to help raise the standard of living for their people.
Cut all foreign aid off, close all foreign military bases and bring our boys home. We have spent trillions since world war 2 trying to buy their friendship and failed. We are hated overseas for it. I say good riddance to them. Let them handle their own problems.
This money can be used to get us out of debt and take care of our own.

He could ruin Soros's wet dream of stealing the election twice in four years. Lord knows, the global interests running this country are going to do everything in their power to prevent that from happening. Wouldn't want the People to get a sense of their own power or start demanding their Constitutional freedoms back.

A world tax would not resolve the problem of poverty. We must look at the causes for poverty and remove the thorns preventing prosperity for all human beings who want to prosper. The United Nations is a corrupt organization as has been proven time and time again.

George Soros is a felon and an evil man bringing down currencies and countries. Why is his dirty money and influence allowed here? And, why do politicians take his money? Soros has openly stated he wants to bring the U.S. down and is in favor of a One World Government. I don't know why, but he must see some personal advantage for it.
