Ada Gregory is the director of the Women’s Center at Duke University. She thinks campus rape is more prevalent at Duke than recent statistics suggest. In a nutshell, she believes that rapists are more manipulative and cunning than the average individual. She also believes that people who are manipulative and cunning have higher IQs. And, of course, Duke University is loaded with men who have higher IQs. So the Duke campus must be crawling with rapists.

Only five incidents of rape were reported on the campus of Duke University in 2007. So, over the summer, officials at Duke decided to change the sexual misconduct policy to encourage more victims to come forward.

Under the old policy, officials were required to report instances of faculty on student rape or staff on student rape. Under the new policy, when officials learn of student on student rape they must report it. The policy also mandates that the Women’s Center be notified every time there is an allegation of student on student rape.

The new policy at Duke will allow the Women’s Center to offer medical and psychological services to the alleged victim. This will give them more to do and help them appear to be even busier at a time when rape seems to be declining at Duke.

The Duke Chronicle recently quoted Dean of Students Sue Wasiolek as saying the following: “I hope the way women and men see this is as a supportive process that seeks to find the truth.”

Dean Wasiolek’s remarks suggest that there is some newfound need to “find the truth” now that the statistics show rape is declining at Duke. But what she fails to realize – or, perhaps, pretends to fail to realize – is that the decline in rape accusations at Duke is the result of a “process that seeks to find the truth.” It’s called our First Amendment freedom of press. Huh?
Let me get this straight: reported rape is declining at Duke because those girls who cry rape for fun are now realizing there are consequences to their actions? You are the one who does not get it, Mike. I have no doubt half of rapes are not reported in ANY circumstance because the girl is the one who will be dragged through the press and humiliated when she IS telling the truth. She was wearing what? She has slept with how many men in the past? Why was she drinking? She was flirting with him? Why was she out at that time? These are the factors that usually come into play and scrutiny more than the perp's actions. What does this re-enforce to women? We did something to deserve it so just move on.The woman goes on trial more than the alleged perpetrator. And gosh darn those pesky feminist campus radicals trying to offer a safe place for those girls who are victimized. What happened to the Duke players was disgusting and the prosecutor took it way too far. Please don't use this as an attack on feminists and lying, whoring girls.

One of the Duke team members who was charged was not even there. he was at an ATM machine. The use of a stripper was stupid but not criminal. The woman is a prostitute and her examination showed dna of several men but none of the team members. The case should have been thrown out immediately.
